The War I Finally Won is a continuation of the wonderful first story, The War That Saved My Life. Ada’s clubfoot is being fixed, and she continues to live with her brother, Jamie, and Susan, who has adopted them, but she continues to be prickly, worried about her future, and sad that her only friend, Maggie has gone away to boarding school. World War II is ongoing, and hardships, like food and supply rationing are being endured. In the midst of this, a German Jewish girl, Ruth, is brought to Susan to be cared for until a place can be found for her at Oxford. Watching Ada, Maggie, and Ruth try and come to grips with each other under the difficulties of war is, poignant, and each girl finds she has strengths and weaknesses she hadn’t needed before
