The Playbook: 52 Rules to Aim, Shoot, and Score in This Game Called Life by Kwame Alexander

If you’ve read any other recent books by Kwame Alexander (The Crossover and Booked,) you know he loves basketball. One of the neat things I learned about him is he had a love for many sports and excelled the most at tennis. The Playbook uses sports and famous sports figures (and coaches) to talk about his 52 rules for the game of life. The Playbook is divided into: Grit, Motivation, Passion, Focus, and Teamwork, with corresponding rules to go with each. This is a quick read, a beautifully illustrated, and kid-friendly book. In case you want to know, I have two favorite rules from the book: Rule #3: “The size of your heart matters more than the size of your opponent.” and #20 “A good coach leads the team. A great coach creates leaders.”
