The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine

Reviewed by Emily Terasa (Library Staff)

This psychological thriller follows two very different women. Daphne Parrish seems to have it all, looks, money, an attractive husband, and two great kids. Amber Patterson is a young nobody, working a dead-end job, and wants what she can’t have, mainly Daphne’s life. Amber is willing to do anything to get the life that she thinks she deserves. But she doesn’t remember one of life’s sayings, that looks can be deceiving. What follows is plenty of twists and turn, heartbreak and betrayal, and downfalls and rebirths.

I saw this book on many must read lists the past few months, including being one of Reese Witherspoon’s book club picks, so I was excited to read it. It did not disappoint. There were many times where I thought one this was going to happen, and then something completely different happened. While certain characters (ahem, Amber) were extremely unlikable, it added to the story and made you want to keep on reading. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes psychological thrillers like Big Little Lies or The Couple Next Door.
