Shelter by Celine Claire

Celine Claire poses an interesting question in her newest picture book, what would you do if a stranger approaches your door asking for shelter in the middle of a storm with only a few tea bags to trade? The animals in the forest are all concerned about the huge storm that is coming, when they get a knock on the door during the middle asking for help they each have to decide if they have anything to spare for two strangers. Needless to say most don’t, except one fox child reminds us that even the smallest kindness can help and that good deeds come around when we least expect it and most need it. I really enjoyed this sweet story with gorgeous yet simple artwork carried throughout. On cold blistery days it’s a good read to warm your heart.
