Mooncop by Tom Gauld

Reviewed by Jess H (Library Staff)

Mooncop struck me in a way I wasn’t expecting. It’s a quick read, only 94 pages long, and has maybe just about as many words. The art is simple, but memorable, with a plot to match. We follow a cop, stationed on the moon. I hesitate so say anything more because even the smallest detail would spoil the story’s climax.

Mooncop has been on my to-read list for years, but I’m glad I waited to read it. It’s something that wouldn’t have hit me the way it did if I were a few years younger. There’s a lingering tenderness and loneliness to Mooncop that hasn’t left me since reading it.
