This brilliant graphic novel touches on the heartbreak, triumph, silliness and overwhelming love of pregnancy and parenthood. Knisley chronicles her attempt to get pregnant a second time after the the tragedy of miscarriage. Rarely have such topics (loss, the relationship of gynecology and feminism, everyday pregnancy woes, etc) been covered with such empathy and warmth. I couldn’t put it down and eagerly devoured it in one sitting. At times heart-rending, at times hilarious it is a treatise on the state of motherhood in America and why a first world nation is failing its mothers. A must-read.
