This is an excellent read during this current health crisis. This book takes place during FDR’s presidency and tells the tale of five women who participated in Eleanor Roosevelt’s WPA pack horse library. Besides being an interesting historical period, this book tells of the bond that develops between five fictional women who participated in this program in the rugged mountain back roads of Kentucky. As the women become more committed to the task of delivering books they also discover the strength of their characters. While living thru the trials and tribulations of everyday life they not only discovered their individual strength, they discovered their strength as a team and the power of being/having friends. As a reader, one can relate to each character as they navigate thru their own moment of conflict. The writing style and descriptions are excellent. I highly recommend this book as an individual or book club read.
