This children’s book has no words and is one of the sweetest stories I’ve read in spite of that. The storybook is composed of black sketch drawings filled in here and there with pops of color, featuring a sad young girl who rescues a puppy from the rain. It depicts her caring for her new friend in numerous ways and the bond they build helping one another. When she encounters a lost dog sign sporting her new friend’s face, the internal struggle she experiences is palpable to the reader. She is altruistic and selfless and the world could use a whole lot more little girls like her.
