An intriguing period in English history is made impressively accessible by seven YA authors all renowned for their historical prowess. These authors have collaborated to give compelling insight into the minds of the six wives of Henry VIII, interspersed with short chapters relayed by Henry himself.
Having each wife written by a different author gives such dimension and variance to the world seen and experienced by those women. Historical names, dates and other facts often slide right out of my mind like water off a duck’s feathers but after reading these six well-researched and lively accounts, I think I’ll be able to differentiate between these historical figures and retain other Tudor details for quite a while–an impressive feat!
I’d recommend Fatal Throne to any older teen or adult looking to satisfy a historical curiosity or get lost in a well-told tale.
