Event Details

Brewing in Waukesha County before Prohibition was an industry at a crossroads–not because of temperance, but rather the rise of national shipping capabilities. Now brewers in Milwaukee and beyond were allowed to cross into the territories of smaller regional breweries across the county.

And it was the town taverns and saloons where brewers fought for their chance to quench the thirst of residents and travelers. Waukesha County–benefactor of traffic from the plank roads–purported to have the highest concentration of saloons and taverns in the state.

This program celebrates that legacy, and explores some of the old haunts and brew houses that dotted the landscape in the days before the dry spell.

No registration necessary.
