Defending Jacob is the American cousin of the Dutch bestseller The Dinner. Both novels center upon a father whose teenage son has been accused of murder, and both have plots full of intriguing twists. I read both of them this year, and though I would recommend either, I have to say I found Defending Jacob to be the more compelling read.

Really? It’s better that “The Dinner” (Oh, wait, I don’t know if that’s all that hard!)
