Dead Loudmouth by Victoria Houston

This is another book in the Wisconsin north woods series by Rhinelander native, Victoria Houston.
Doc Osborne, a retired dentist and forensic pathologist, is helping out the Loon Lake Chief of Police with a local, bizarre murder investigation. Adding to the mix is the disappearance of Doc’s young granddaughter who went off alone musky fishing.

Houston started this fly fishing infused series with Dead Angler in 2000. If you are not a Houston fan yet, I recommend starting with this one.

One of the reasons I enjoy these books is that I am from the north woods and Houston refers to many real places. The female Chief of Police has an antagonistic relationship with the State Crime Lab investigators in Wausau. I get a kick out of that, since for many years I lived two miles away from the actual lab!
