Circling the Sun: A Novel by Paula McLain

I thought this book would be another commercial, fluff story. It’s good to be surprised once in a while. McLain takes us to Africa in colonial times where we meet Beryl Clutterbuck, a young girl raised with horses and a young Kenyan boy. She lives life to the fullest as an independent woman – the first to train race horses, and the first woman to fly east-west across the Atlantic. You can’t dislike the events or complain about the story-line since it is fashioned after a real life person and real life events insofar as it is categorized as historical fiction. If you just want to sit down with a good romance/adventure story this is it.
