  • Parents ~ Clean Reads for Teens
      Tuesday, June 14th ~ 6:30—7:30
    • Everyone has different ideas about what’s considered a “clean”  YA book. It can be difficult when parents come in looking for a book that has no sexual content, because while some parents mean no sex, others are upset by detailed kissing. The same can be said with language, where people don’t always agree what constitutes profanity in a book.

I’m against censorship, but I do think people have the right to look for books that reflect their values. Library journal reviews and publisher information often aren’t very clear about how much “questionable” content is in a book, and although I often read 2-4 YA books a week, I don’t have personal knowledge of all the books in the collection.....
