Consider the Advantages of Large Print Books
“Large prints (LP) books are not just for the visually impaired or older adults,” said reference librarian Diane Basting. “They are easier to read in low light or ideal for those who work at a computer all day and suffer from eye strain. Large print is perfect for those multitasking, perfect for reading on a tread mill for example.” Basting added that with a lower demand for LP books, chances are better that a hot book is available. The DPL currently has “The Help” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” in LP. “It’s an underutilized collection,” Basting said. c

Steve’s Staff Pick:

 “11/22/63”

Imagine that a friend unexpectedly recruits you to embark on a project that, if successful, will change the course of history. That what happened to Jake Epping, a high school teacher in Lisbon Falls, Maine, when his friend convinces him to enter a portal to travel back in time to 1958. But the past is obdurate, resisting change and making the task difficult for Jake. This latest Stephen King novel will either transport those old enough to remember or introduce those too young to a world of 31-cents-a gallon gas, the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
In adult fiction (FIC KING).
